How to get there

Chinsurah is well connected by road, rail and water transport. The town is about 50 kilometers (approximately 30 miles) by road from downtown Calcutta.

A Train passing the Jubilee Bridge

The most popular roads taken are the Grand Trunk Road off Howrah Bridge or Delhi Road off Bali Bridge. The fastest way to reach the town from the Calcutta Airport area is to take the east-bound Jessore Road and then Kalyani Expressway to the Kalyani Bridge.

After crossing the bridge into Bansberia, one has to drive a couple of miles north to enter Chinsurah.

Chinsurah Main Bus Stand

Chinsurah and Hooghly are two consecutive station stops on the Howrah-Burdwan Main Line by train. It takes about 50 minutes to reach Chinsurah from Howrah by train. An alternative way to reach the town, preferred by many, is to take a train from the Sealdah station to Naihati and then take a ferry to Chinsurah across the Ganges.
